Pillows and Pages

Pillows and Pages - A new class by Karen Ruane
The class taught three pillows, plus some art pages the last week.
My first pillow was a pin cushion pillow in pinks and greens:
My color palette was pinks and greens
 Pillow cover damp stretching
Lots of French Knots
All finished - the pillow folds in half and is tied with ribbons.
There is a hidden pocket in back, and the padded top
is for pin sticking.

The second pillow - same colors, but different fabrics -
with the addition of lace.

Below - the finished second pillow -
covered with tabs and buttons.
It's been really fun!

These were my mothers decorations
and I really enjoyed getting them out and making my "table-scape."

Making Onion Soup

Fifteen or so cups sliced onions
1 stick butter
some olive oil
beef broth - two large boxes
vermouth or very dry white wine - 2 or three cups
garlic salt to taste

This is a restaurant recipe from the old Tremont Hotel in Lansdale.
Butter and about 1/2 cup olive oil in the pan. Add the onions.
Boo Hoo!
Let them cook over low heat for 30 to 40 minutes. LOW!

Add some flour and make a roux. Slowly add the beef broth.
Season to taste.
Add the vermouth. Let the soup simmer for 1/2 hour.
I used garlic croutons from the store. Sprinkle with grated cheese!

Enjoy! Love, Linda
