Favorite Thing Saturday

My grandmother's afgan. This was made by grandmother Julia,
 my father's mother.
It is 100% wool. Many years ago my mother threw it in the washer
which kind of felted it.
But I love it anyway.
Every Christmas I drape it over the back of my sofa for the holidays
and remember grandma.
Love, Linda

Making Dog Biscuits

All members of the family deserve a healthy homemade treat -- so . . .
Hannah Banana Treats
for your best friend.

You need:
6 cups whole wheat flour
6 cups rice flour
10 cups oatmeal - traditional or instant
1 tablespoon baking powder
10 to 12 bananas, mashed
5 tablespoons blackstrap molasses
5 heaping tablespoons peanut butter
4 tablespoons olive oil
2 cups lukewarm water
Preheat the oven to 350.
Combine the dry ingredients.
Add the oatmeal to the other dry ingredients.
Then mash the bananas,
and add the wet ingredients.
The hardest part is blending all the ingredients, the dough is very heavy,
it's best to use your hands, turn the dough out onto a counter dusted with flour and add small amounts of water until it is all blended. Divide the dough into portions and roll out to a half inch thickness.
Cut into shapes.
Bake on nonstick baking sheets for 40 minutes.
This makes about 60 biscuits - a whole month's worth!
This recipe is from "Barker's Grub," by Rudy Edalati,
with dinners and treats galore! Enjoy!
Love, Linda

A Favorite Thing Saturday

Linking with Claudia for:
This is my second Favorite Thing Saturday
and
tinypic
Since it's fall and will be Halloween soon, I thought I would share
 my Pumpkin Teapot.
It was a gift from my daughter. Last year I participated in a "Witches' Tea Party," and created this setting:
I won the wreath in a blog give-away last year.
I have the display in front of the fireplace in the dining room - the ironwork is the fireplace screen.
How about a nice cup of Eye of Newt Tea??

Senior Social

On Saturday, Sunny got all brushed and primped and we were off to Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue's Senior Social!
The Senior Social is for dogs of all breeds over 8 years old. Sunny and I did canine massages all afternoon.
There was a grooming station, where you could get nails clipped, (or your dog could) ears cleaned, a "find the treat" tent, a quilt sale, an agility course, food, music, cake!!, and much more! There were contests for oldest senior, whitest face, least whitest face . . .

Heather (above in the white shirt) received the Golden Starfish Award for her work with the goldens.
One of my massage clients below.
I was so busy, I didn't have time to take many photos, our tent
 was quite popular.
You can see more pictures at DVGRR.org.
If you need a golden retriever, they have lots of them!
Sunny was a little barky because Mom was petting and rubbing all those other dogs, but she decided to settle down and make a few new friends.
The day sure went fast! Love, Linda

Favorite Things

Linking with Claudia at Mockingbird Hill Cottage
One of my favorite things is my Italian compote.
It was purchased at an antique store in Indianapolis while power-shopping
 with my sister.
When we power-shop, we take a day (or a week), strategize our route, and stock up with chocolate and Mountain Dew to keep up our energy.
And we're off!
I saw this compote sitting on an antique dining table, and grabbed it right away!
It's very heavy and the top lifts off.
It goes with everything, and every season, AND I can keep chocolate in it!
And nobody will know.
Well . . . I guess they do now.
The only marking - I don't know who made it. If you know, please let me know.
Thanks, and keep on shoppin'!!
Love, Linda

New Sewing Projects

Well, time to get back to blogging. I needed to make some pillowcase dresses to replenish my stock.

And a little "home from the hospital" embroidered outfit.
Soon to be listed in my Etsy shop.
